Premier League Hall of Fame
|
The latest bit of twaddle from the people who believe football began in 1992
Shearer and Henry the first two inducted. Now a public vote happening for the next six.
Le Tiss the nut job aside, all nominees are from the clubs formally known as the Big 6.
A few ex West Ham included. Ian Wright, Rio, Lampard and Terry.
Although he plays like he is, Noble hasn’t retired yet so isn’t eligible. Apart from him, what other retired Hammers deserve a place, or will once retired?
They must have made a minimum of 250 Premier League appearances unless they have achieved any of the following milestones:
Made a minimum of 200 Premier League appearances for one Club Been selected to any of the Premier League Team of the Decade or 20-Year Anniversary teams Won a Premier League Golden Boot or Golden Glove Been voted as Premier League Player of the Season Won three Premier League titles Scored 100 Premier League goals or recorded 100 Premier League clean sheets (GK only)

Sheringham probably in there at some point along with Pearce and Winterburn.
Di Canio for the catching the ball at Everton too will get thrown into the ring coupled with goal of season and greatest Premier league goal

Yeah can’t see him ever getting in even though he won 3 titles and well over the appearance threshold.

I’m not sure how many will be inducted each year, but 8 in year one. Surely 8 a year would be unsustainable and literally everyone fitting that criteria would be in it like CoG said.

Interesting that Ryan Giggs isn’t included in the shortlist. Trophywise I think he’s more successful than any of the others, one club servant, over 600 prem appearances, won it 13 times, score and assisted over 250 goals.
Ok so he’s a scum bag, but John Terry, Ashley Cole, Matt Le Tiss and Steven Gerrard are all nominated.

Sven, yes there is a English football hall of fame in the National Football Museum, Manchester. Started in 2002. Yes Moore and Hurst are in, but surprisingly Hurst was not in at the beginning! Now its a bit like Coming of Gary said, loads are in and not so special. A few West Ham there, Trevor and Billy. No Paulo, bad boy I guess.

Not really sure what the point of this is..Do the players get some kind of award, or a plaque somewhere with their name on? Seems a bit pointless really.

Also I'm not sure Di Canio even qualifies under any of those criteria?

Could argue Di Canio and Joe Cole.
Other than that, I can't think of any more.

The sad thing is, we've not really had much to be proud of since football began in 1992.
I was thinking this as I read that the Spotify bloke and 3 Arsenal modern day legends (Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira) are looking to buy them.
